About Port Aransas Pulse
The local directory and guide to the island — the best businesses, plus news, events, fishing, and the people who live here.
What this site is
Port Aransas Pulse is an independent local site focused on Port Aransas, Texas (ZIP 78373) and the surrounding Mustang Island. At its heart is a locally-curated directory of the island's best businesses — restaurants, places to stay, shops, charters, and services — with ratings and reviews to help you find the right spot. Around it we keep the things islanders and visitors look up day to day: local headlines, the events calendar, today's tide and surf conditions, and stories from the community.
What we cover
- Business directory & reviews. Our main focus: restaurants, places to stay, stores, charters, handymen, and services across the island, with ratings and reviews. Free listings for any Port A business; owners can claim and correct their entry. Includes a dedicated guide to the Cinnamon Shore community.
- Local news. Beach and ferry alerts, weather and storm coverage, city council, business openings, and a weekly editorial roundup published Friday mornings.
- Events. Live music, farmers markets, fishing tournaments, beach cleanups, and family events — submitted by organizers and the public.
- Fishing & surf conditions. Live-shaped tides, water temperature, wind, UV, and surf height for Mustang Island, plus a daily bite report.
- Hidden gems. Off-the-beaten-path spots that regulars know about — boardwalks, sandbars, day trips, the back deck at the coffee shop.
- Community stories. First-person stories submitted by neighbors. Real names, real people, reviewed before publication.
How content gets here
Most content on this site comes from one of three places: the Pulse editorial team, public submissions (events, tips, stories, business listings) that are reviewed before publication, and a small set of automated feeds for things like tide and weather data. Every submission form on the site collects an email so we can reach out with follow-up questions before anything is published.
We do not re-publish other publications' articles. Every news post on Port Aransas Pulse is written by our team or a credited contributor, with original reporting, original photography where possible, and a minimum length of 700 words so each story is genuinely useful on its own — not a thin rewrite designed to capture a search result. When an event listing or business hours come from a third-party source like the Chamber of Commerce or the city's calendar, we say so and link back to the original.
Coverage area
Port Aransas (ZIP 78373) and the surrounding north end of Mustang Island. All published times are America/Chicago (Central Time, observes DST). When we cover stories from Aransas Pass, Rockport, or Corpus Christi, it is because there is a direct Port A connection.
A note on the data
The fishing-conditions feed is approximated from public NOAA and TPWD-style sources and is not a substitute for official marine forecasts, fishing-limit publications, or navigation tools. Always check the National Weather Service and Texas Parks & Wildlife for safety-critical decisions.
Corrections
We publish corrections quickly. If you spot something wrong — a phone number, an address, a date, a fact in a story — please tell us and we will fix it.
