Cookie Policy
Effective May 23, 2026
We keep this short on purpose. Port Aransas Pulse does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that profile you. All browser storage we set is first-party and serves either a strictly necessary or functional / preference purpose — remembering UI state like your theme or which popups you have dismissed. Under most US state privacy laws this storage does not require opt-in consent; under the EU ePrivacy Directive, preference storage may require consent for EEA visitors and we will surface a granular consent banner before any non-essential storage is set if and when we begin targeting the EEA.
What we store, and where
We use the browser’s built-in localStorage — not HTTP cookies — for these first-party functional flags:
| Key | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
theme | Remembers light / dark mode choice. | Until you clear it |
pulse-welcome-shown | Don’t re-show the welcome newsletter popup. | Until you clear it |
pulse-scroll-shown | Don’t re-show the scroll-triggered newsletter popup. | Until you clear it |
pulse-exit-shown | Don’t re-show the exit-intent newsletter popup. | Until you clear it |
pulse-floating-dismissed | Remembers that you closed the floating newsletter bar. | Until you clear it |
pulse-storage-ack | Remembers that you acknowledged this storage notice. | Until you clear it |
HTTP cookies
We do not set any first-party HTTP cookies for marketing or analytics. Your hosting provider may set a short-lived session cookie strictly for security (for example, anti-CSRF on form submissions) — these are removed when you close your browser.
Third parties
Embedded content from third parties (for example, a YouTube video on a story page) may set their own cookies under their own policies. If we add a third-party widget that sets tracking cookies, we will update this page and ask for consent first.
How to clear what we’ve stored
- Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy & security → Site settings → View permissions and data stored across sites → portaransaspulse.com → Clear data.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data → portaransaspulse.com → Remove.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → portaransaspulse.com → Remove.
Clearing this storage will reset your theme preference and may cause the newsletter popups to re-appear on your next visit.
Changes
If we add new storage entries or introduce any third-party trackers, we will update this page with at least seven days’ notice and, where required, present a consent banner before any non-essential storage is set.
