How to read a Port Aransas tide chart

Port Aransas sits at the mouth of the Aransas Pass ship channel, where the Gulf of Mexico meets Corpus Christi and Aransas Bays. The NOAA station that produces these predictions is mounted on the Port Aransas pier — so the heights above are what the water level will read at the station, not necessarily at your favorite back-bay flat two miles inland, which can lag by 30–90 minutes.

The Texas Gulf coast runs mostly diurnal tides — one high and one low per day — but during certain lunar phases you'll see mixed semi-diurnal days with two of each. The chart above will show both patterns through the week.

Predictions come from NOAA station 8775237 (Port Aransas), the official tide gauge maintained by the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services. Heights are referenced to MLLW (Mean Lower Low Water), the standard chart datum used by U.S. nautical charts. Times are converted from the station's local-standard / local- daylight (lst_ldt) feed to America/Chicago for display.
