Rainy-day and sun-break options include the maritime and science museums and the galleries downtown.

On the water, dolphin-watching tours leave the harbor year-round and the resident bottlenose pod shows up reliably enough that most operators offer a sighting guarantee. Kayak and paddleboard outfitters cover Lighthouse Lakes and the back bays, and nature cruises run the ship channel and the flats.
